Research

Research within the Institute of Integrative Biology combines theory and experimental approaches from ecology and evolutionary biology to develop a fundamental understanding of the properties and functions of complex and diverse biological systems.

Our research focuses on the connections between ecological and evolutionary dynamics and how this connection shapes the interactions between species and between species and the environment.

Our goals include predicting the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of infectious diseases, biological invasions, and populations facing global environmental change. Our work is of great relevance to human health, agriculture, and conservation of the natural world.
